Record This space in the Agenda will have special announcements.

Language Arts/Reading/Spelling
(Complete Word List & Menu below)
Literacy Journal: Generally assigned each night (Monday-Thursday).  Students should read for about 20 minutes each night, show their thinking about the text they read through use of sticky notes, and log their reading.  As the year progresses, the log of reading will get more complex.  Students may read on Friday night, Saturday, and/or Sunday in order to be ahead for the week if their weekdays are too busy.

Spelling Menu: Generally assigned on the first day of the week and due on the last day of the week.  Students have the complete year's worth of words in their binder and may work ahead if they choose.

MathGenerally assigned each night (Monday-Friday). Lessons are shown as the Chapter Number-Lesson Number.  For example: 3-2 means Chapter 3, Lesson 2.  Students do not usually need their math books for homework, but can bring them home at ANY time as long as they are returned the following day.

Times tests are given weekly, so practicing times facts during the week is encouraged.

Social Studies/Science Social Studies will have homework on occasion.  Students generally use a "Student Guide" instead of their textbook.  The "Student Guide" for the current unit should be in the child's binder.

Science is hands-on and generally does not have homework because of this.  Students have their science notebooks in their binders though and parents may look at them at ANY time.  Just be sure to leave them in the child's binder.  When the unit is over, finished work will be sent home in the MESH.

Parent Signature
Please sign your child's Agenda EVERY night.  Your signature only shows that you saw what was assigned, not that it was completed or is correct (that is your child's job!).
